Rally Day
September 8, 2019
Rally Day is where we get a chance to reflect on the year behind us, and prepare for a new Sunday School year! Following the 10:30am service, St. John hosts a picnic lunch, complete with all the fixings and some great dishes brought by our congregation. This year’s worship service at 10:30am will honor our faithful the work of our volunteers, students and parents who labor weekly to share the Gospel with our pre- school to 8th graders. Recognition for attendance will be celebrated, as well as a rite of installation and prayer for our 2019-2020 staff and teachers. Following the worship, all are invited to share a “pick-a-nick” basket of food and Christian fellowship in the great outdoors, (weather permitting). It was such a memorable and enjoyable time last year outside under the tents, that we can only hope the good Lord will send us sunshine, breezes and shade, to begin our Fall season together. As in the past, the Church Council and Boards are inviting others to volunteer in making this event a team effort. The sign- up sheet on the narthex bulletin board offers just enough space for a last name, and the number who will attend, along with a check mark indicating if you can bring a salad or a dessert. The hot dogs, brats, burgers and grilled corn (plus all the condiments, chips, melted butter and drinks) will be waiting for you, courtesy of our faithful council and generous volunteers. Speaking of which, if you would like to help in the preparations and setup on Saturday, help in serving/cooking at the picnic, and/or packing things away after...... please contact the Church President via church office 847-524-9746 or the contact page. Your assistance will only add to our reason to give the Savior thanks and praise for the sacrifices of time and effort He inspires in the hearts of every Christian brother and sister who call St. John Ev. Lutheran their family of faith and spiritual home. |
